Youth Program Development & Implementation

I offer free consultations

Youth programs developed through Mindful Media translate the program’s core modules into hands-on, developmentally grounded learning experiences. Programming is always adapted to age, setting, and community context, but often includes combinations of the following:

  • Storytelling and creative expression projects
Youth create digital stories, zines, videos, or other media to explore identity, relationships, and experiences online and offline.

  • Media literacy and platform awareness activities
Interactive exercises that help youth examine how platforms work, recognize manipulation or misinformation, and understand how design choices shape attention, behavior, and norms.

  • Digital safety and well-being conversations
Facilitated discussions and skill-building around boundaries, pressure, online risk, mental health, and navigating challenging or harmful content—without relying on fear-based messaging.

  • Digital citizenship and civic participation
Opportunities for youth to explore voice, agency, and participation in digital spaces, including how media shapes activism, community engagement, and public dialogue.

  • Relationships, communication, and peer culture
Activities that center friendships, conflict, belonging, and communication online, grounded in real scenarios young people are navigating.

  • Youth culture, humor, and meaning-making
Using memes, trends, and humor as entry points for reflection, critical thinking, and connection rather than moral panic or dismissal.

Programs emphasize experiential, hands-on learning that invites young people to create, reflect, and engage together through discussion and collaboration. The goal is not just skill-building, but helping youth make sense of digital life in ways that support agency, connection, and well-being.

Collaborative, Context-Responsive Program Design

Programs are developed in partnership with organizations to reflect local goals, capacity, and community context. Rather than relying on one-size-fits-all models, this work emphasizes flexibility, relevance, and sustainability.

Support may range from targeted consultation to full program design, implementation support, and evaluation, depending on organizational needs and readiness. Across all engagements, the focus is on building programs that are responsive to real-world conditions and supportive of long-term growth.

Program Services May Include:

  • Youth program and curriculum design grounded in Positive Youth Development and critical media literacy

  • Program implementation support, including facilitation, staff guidance, and iterative refinement

  • Community collaboration and partnership development

  • Logic models and program frameworks aligned with organizational goals and community priorities

  • Formative and summative evaluation to support learning, accountability, and improvement

  • Funding and sustainability support, including grant writing, proposal development, and alignment with funder or earmarked funding priorities

  • Workshop and learning experience design for youth, caregivers, and staff

Programs are adapted for diverse settings, using flexible, sliding-scale service models to meet varying organizational needs and capacity.
